Dimensional tolerance

  • Textiles have much higher permissible deviations than, for example, products made of metal or wood.
  • On the one hand, this is due to the properties of the fibres used. Cotton in particular, as a natural fibre, can absorb and release a lot of water and humidity. This is always accompanied by a change in the length of the fibre and thus of the entire textile. On the other hand, textiles are more or less elastic depending on their construction (or weave).
  • Every machine and especially every person measures under different voltages. This also inevitably leads to different results.
  • The making-up of the textiles is still done manually.
  • Manual work always leads to higher tolerances than work done by machines.
  • Depending on the seam pattern and sewing machine, there are further tolerances.

Dimensional tolerances to be expected

Oblique warpage ± 1,5% the fabric width
Length deviation ± 3%
Run-in deviation ± 3%
Dimensional deviations for textiles in ready-made condition: ± 1,5 %

In principle, our products are calculated with these tolerances. We also stock fabric that can be manufactured to centimetre accuracy. If you would like to have a fabric manufactured to centimetre accuracy, please contact us and we will be happy to make you an offer.
